That's because gpedit.msc isn't included in your copy of Windows XP - Windows XP Home Edition. Is this what you have?

If you have windows xp pro you may:

Start>Run
mmc
File>Add/Remove Snap-in...
click Add...
Select Group Policy Object Editor

Then you may do a File>Save As...
and save it as gpedit.msc

Oh is this what you meant?

If that is it - don't believe everything you read - it may be more of a myth or a wishful thinking as a user by the name of redhand explained in the following thread (last post).

Further to the above post, M$ also discredited the 20% QoS bandwidth reservation claims by stating the following:

There have been claims in various published technical articles and newsgroup postings that Windows XP always reserves 20 percent of the available bandwidth for QoS. These claims are incorrect. The information in the "Clarification about QoS in end computers that are Running Windows XP" section correctly describes the behavior of Windows XP systems.

You have heard from the best on the net here. The answer is clear. Anything else is bogus. Disregard any and all sites that gave you that information.

When Jennifer SUMN and XpUser
talks believe them.

I'm a novice but even I know to abandon such thoughts and sites,

Good question though.

Once again there is NO gpedit.msc in your version of Windows XP. Find something else better to do & Stop wasting your time!
