Does anyone experience the issue on XP resolving IP by PINGing hostname. I am administrating 50 XP static IP workstations, they are all in the same domain. all workstations registered properly on DNS server running W2K3 via joining domain. I can resolve hostanme/IP using nslookup command but cannot resolve by PINGing its name to resolve IP. What is possible caused?

Are you pinging external hosts? Post a ping output.

Ping is blocked. What point would it serve if you know they are working?

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

problem resolved, need to run ipconfig /registerdns every time PC restart in order to ping host by name. the problem is only happened if pinging any host in the network, not external host nor domain controller.
