Unable to read CD burned in Win98

Comment:
I burned a few MP3 CDs in Win98/Me. I am however unable to read these CDs in WinXPPro. Nero burning ROM reports that the CD is copyrighted. They were burned using Adaptec.
Is there a fix needed so that I can read my CD's under WindowsXP. These same CD's work just fine when I try them under Win98.
Another issue where XP has taken control of user access.
XP has many issues with burning a cd, no matter if your using roxio or nero.

If you burned the CD's using adaptec direct CD did you close the CD's after burning. If you don't close them they will still be readable in a system with direct CD,but another system without it may be unable to read them.

I just ran into the same thing and was able to recover some data.
To fix it, I had to go to my Windows 98 partition (I have a dual boot system) and use Easy CD Creator because I do not have it on my XP partition. I have Nero and Record Now on my XP partition.
If Easy CD Creator does not read it right away or gives an error message, go into their "Direct CD" program and there is a repair utility for CD's.
I used it last weekend and it seemed to take forever but it did work. I restored some 2 year old backups that way.
Maybe you will get lucky and find that it was not closed and that closing the disk will fix it quickly. Otherwise, try the method above.
