Hello,

I am unable to open ANY folder including windows explorer, My computer, or just any other folder on my system. Whenever I double click to open, it gives me the following error message

"explorer.exe - Application error
The instruction at "0x01e6d065" referenced memory at "0x000000". The memory could not be written

Click on Ok to terminate the program."

Its most likely due to some Trojan. Does any one have had the same problem. How to get rid of it. I dont want to reinstall the windows. Thanks for your help.

Check to see if you can do it in Windows
Safe-Mode. This option uses a minimal
set of device drivers and services to
start Windows. Hold down F8 during boot.
Logon as Administrator.

How
to Perform a Clean Boot in Windows XP

To help troubleshoot error messages or other
issues when you cannot determine the cause of
the issue, disable common startup programs,
settings, and drivers to eliminate possible
software conflicts when you start Microsoft
Windows XP. This procedure is known as
"clean booting."
(Can be done by way of Windows Safe-Mode,
logon as Administrator,
but where it says RESTART, restart into normal

You state 2 things: System wide and memory error. I would look first to A-make sure your ram is firmly seated and B- check your ram and see if its bad. Hope this helps

I got exactly the same problem. I managed to get it to work once after I ran a virus scan, but then it stopped working.

It works fine when in safe-mode, but I'm unsure about what to do when I got it there.

The whole situation is really odd, one second it worked, logged out, logged in and it stopped working.

Thank you, I hope I can fix it.
