Hi all,
I also posted this in the networking forum but if anyone has any ideas then I welcome them.
I used the homepage link to get you to the quite lenghty post as it has much information and does not need to be typed twice :)
Thanks in advance

I cannot give you an elegant way to FIX your connect problem, BUT, I've been in situations where I needed my Verizon DSL PPPoE to remain open and it wouldn't stay connected. My inelegant way around my connection problem was to run and minimize my E-mail client which I have set to ping my mail server every 8 minutes. My connection then remained open until I chose to closed it.

I'm sorry I could not be of further help.
