I am experiencing a few problems with my lap top. The biggest problem is that when I click on add/remove programs (there are a few I need to remove) it does nothing! No error, no freezing, no new screen, nothing! There has recently been a few other issues - activesync and a new msn connection center that appeared when all of the problems started. But I can't remove it without add/remove programs! Please help!!!

See if you can do it in Windows
Safe-Mode. This option uses a minimal
set of device drivers and services to
start Windows. Hold down F8 during boot.
Logon as Administrator.
A Description of the Safe Mode Boot Options in Windows XP

I tried it in safe mode, and I still cannot get any response. I also tried to do windows update and could not get that to open. The help and support button from the start menu does not seem to be working, and I tried to run scans to see if there was a virus. Spy bot will run (clean) - but I could not get ad aware to open.

Try System File Checker:
Open the Command Prompt, then type:sfc /scannow
note space between the c and /
Have XP CD in your drive.
Information about SFC

I am trying to try the sytem file checker, but I cannot find the xp cd. I just bought this computer a year ago from dell. Is thw xp on the cd that came with the computer that says drivers and utilities? or does it not have a disc with it and just a system restore feature?
