Unable to load Windows XP SP2

March 3, 2010 at 13:05:03
Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, 2.791 GHz / 2046 MB
I'm unable to load svc pack 2, some file isn't located? Microsoft is telling me to re-install OS as I may have a corrupt file, yet I don't see XP listed on any of the cds that Dell sent me, can someone direct me to the correct Dell cd or perhaps a free download or any other thoughts?

Kind of late for sp2. Might try to install sp3.

You will have to find out two things. One is how to return it to as shipped state or oem state. The other is if they did offer a xp cd or if you can make a cd.

You might try to use anyone's XP cd and try sfc.exe /scannow command to see if it can fix the files. Usually a service pack equal or below would help.

I'd get all my data off before I went any further.

I'd get SP3 on a flash drive too. Install it first thing after you get it fixed or reloaded.
