An older OS must be installed before XP.

An easy way to do it is go ahead and install Win2K in to the second partition, then reinstall WinXP (you won't lose any info). It will rebuild the boot menu and voila!

I tried first by puting in the cd and then starting the laptop to boot from cd..dint work..
then i tried to put in the cd wen the system was on and install into secord partition...and it did not allow me to do this as i had a newer version of windows compared to w2k...
please let me know how to go about it..thanks a lot

When u say: "I tried first by puting in the cd and then starting the laptop to boot from cd..dint work.." - did u set ur CDRom as first boot device in the bios ??

If ur W2K wont boot, then u could try booting a Win98 startup floppy disk and running x:\i386\winnt.exe at the command prompt (where 'x' is ur cdrom drive letter).

Not sure if Korsam's suggestion above will work anyway (haven't tried it), but it sounds feasable !!

Hope this helps
