Unable to laocate regedit.exe

CPU/Ram: 400mghz

When I type in regedit I get an error message that says unable to locate regedit.exe.... anyone know how I can fix this, not sure if it was deleted when performing a virus scan..... Help please!!!!

It should be located in C:\WINDOWS.

You should also have a copy in C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386, assuming you have SP1 installed.

You can copy it from there and paste it into your windows directory.

houdini, Try Start/Search/Find all files and folders and type in regedit.exe and search your hard drive. If you find it it's possible that a virus removed access to it. If this is the case go to the link below and download and run the Fixswen.inf file.
"Save the fixswen.inf file to your local hard disk, right-click on the file and choose install".

"A Setup INF file to undo registry changes made by W32/Swen@MM and other threats that prevent REGEDIT, BAT, COM, EXE, PIF, REG and SCR files from running".

It may correct the problem.
