Stop 0x0000007B means there is either a bad hard drive or a bad hard drive controller. This is a hard ware problem so consider your self lucky because with any luck the hard drive is still good which means you still have all of your files.

Pentium 4s - The processors for the rest of us.

Also why are you trying to install from CD?
You should be able to use the recovery partition to revert back to factory defaults.

OEM computer manufacturers are required to provide at least one way for you to reinstall Windows - your computer should have included either a restore partition on your hard drive, or Windows install/restore disks.

The Acer Aspire One should come with a recovery partition. Check the screen at the start of booting, there may be a prompt for it. Should be ALT + F10 (but may vary by model).

Consult tech support here by feeding in your specific model details.
There is information on restoring the OS:

Try that and see if makes any difference to your fault. If it is hardware fault it won't. However, you never know.

When everything else fails, read the instructions.

You can't run Windows 98, it's not supported.

"Stop :0x0000007B"

There's more to the message than that - INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE? You need to post the entire error message.

mickliq - "...You can't run Windows 98, it's not supported...".

"Support" is not a sine qua non condition for running an OS, is it? Apologies to moonnightingale, don't want to hijack a thread, but that statement has me non-plussed!!

I have the zg5 and the machine was accidentally put into standby while xp was installing updates.. I now get a blue error screen at every turn. No safe mode, unable to format and install, alt+f1 or f11, no dice...

Nothing I have read has worked! The hardware is good, but XP is corrupt and I can reload. Any ideas? Im getting the same error as stated above in the OP. Right now I have it in pieces unplugging the HD and even the bios button cell battery in hopes when I reassemble it gives me a format option. Tried recovery software from acer as well @#$@#$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please help :)
