I am running my laptop on Windows XP home edition. It suddenly stopped logging on to the web? AVG 6 found 2 trojan horse dialer 1.5 viruses which I have put into the virus vault. Can't download version 7 or do anything, as can't get it on the web / download my emails. Any ideas?

OK let's look at this. You use an outdated "FREE ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM" that even if it were new doesn't work well on Trojans, and it finds Trojans? So you feel so strongly about the value of your system, you cannot even update your FREE ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM...For you we have 3 words..."Wipe and Load" because you probably are innundated beyond repair and you cannot get on the internet to even try online FREE virus checker(that probably wouldn't work now anyway!)

Cat 1, Use another computer that has Internet access and go to the link below, read the lspfix.txt file then download the LSPFix.exe onto a floppy disk or CD. Transfer the floppy disk or CD to the problem computer(laptop) and run the LSPFix.exe. Make sure that you read the lspfix.txt file prior to running the LSPFix.exe. It may correct the Internet accessability problem.

Thanks Rich for your so loudly stated advice. For your info I do care about MY SYSTEM. I run regular checks and scans! The OUT DATED AVG only notified me about upgrading to version 7 around the time things went wrong. I work 7 days a week and do not have time to sit in front of a computer all day long. If this is the aggressive response people get in asking for advice in this forum, I wonder why I joined. This site does state report offensive material, well you are not far from it.
