Had to download a Dell Flash Bios from their support online (support.dell.com). Their instructions were to save this file to the Windows Desktop. After doing it, I executed the .exe icon and loaded the new Bios. Now, I am unable to get rid of the saved .exe icon on the Desktop. I recieve an error msg when trying to delete it. In use by another program or person. Anyway, I reloaded Windows Pro Sp1A and all my other software programs in order to get rid of it. The Admin user couldn't do it, the attribute command was useless, etc. No other user was logged on to the PC other than myself (Administrator). Does saving an .exe file to the desktop make it a system file for some reason and you can't get rid of it. This kept me from continuing with the install of Windows XP SP2. We run McAfee Virusscan, Antispyware, and Ad Aware Se Plus with Adwatch activated. No virus - no nothing. Any help on getting rid of an .exe icon from the Windows desktop would be greatly appreciated.
