unable to delete a file

Specs: Windows XP, p4 dual-core / 512 MB
Hi,
I am not able to delete any file by pressing delete key
from my keyboard,it is showing 1 massage that "can not
delete the file" but if I press Shift+delete it is getting
deleted.please help me why it is not going to recycle bin.

Because using Shift + Delete bypasses the Recycle Bin.

Maybe the Bin is full.??? Empty it.

no my recycle bin is full empty. nothing is there

Some files are too large to be placed in the Recycle bin. Normally you would then get a message to that effect.

What kind of files are you trying to delete?

any files like excel,word document, the size is not more than
10 mb.

Right click on the recycle bin and choose properties to review the settings.

There are a number of them that could affect how yours is working.
