I'm trying to copy a 5 gig zip file to an external hard drive (My 40gig IRiver MP3 player). However when I try to drag the file it says there is not enough file space when there is 30 gig free. I can drag over a directory with a larger size but not a single file. Is there some sort of parameter I need to increase? Is there a simple was round this. I'm trying to get all my important files off a hard drive before I format and re-install. I've compressed a number of files which when uncompressed totalled 55gig ...compression ahs reduced it all to 35gig and thus it'll all fit on my 40gig. The idea is then once formatted to put all the files back on.

Try making a directory on the IRiver and copying it there.

According to MS Fat32 limitation "You cannot create a file larger than (2^32)-1 bytes (this is one byte less than 4 GB) on a FAT32 partition." Never say Never Romeo Void Firefox 1.0.7 A Safer Browser Thunderbird 1.0.7
