GoodMorning, I have a serious problem,as my pc was infected with virus i planned to reformat my hard drive however..when i tried my CPU boots from XP cd and when the "press any key to boot from cd" appears and i click space or enter key ..nothing happens my screen is black with an - (sign) blinking!! I am unable to find the desktop icons nad task bar on my desktop as my screen turns blank with desktop wallpaper appearing only while booting normally. Pls help solve this issue as i have been following up continously.

FATEMA ABBAS, several things come to mind. First, sure you had a VIRUS? Possible it was a TROJAN? The two are very similar, but different. In either case, did you disable 'restore' prior to scanning. If the answer to either query is 'no', post back (new post) for more. The suggested 'fix' is kinda long and I won't bother unless it's needed. HTH. Ed in Texas.
