Hi
My computer Win Xp worked fine with Internet before. My sister then deleted accidently some files so that I could not get in to Internet. When I click on Internet Explore, it says some host file lost or missing. How do I fix this?
My computer is Gateway I lost the Win XP OS application but I have one Win XP OS for Dell computer, Can I use this CD as altenative to re-install Win XP on Gateway?

Legally you can only install XP on one computer.
Try doing the following to eliminate the need for the HOSTS file ---
* Start | Run (type) "services.msc" (no quotes) * Scroll down to "DNS Client", Right-click and select: Properties * Click the drop-down arrow for "Startup type" * Select: Manual, click Apply/Ok and restart. (IF you are the only PC user, and not part of a domain.) That also eliminates one SVCHOST process in Task Manager. ----------------------- Check in the Recycle Bin for the deleted files, so you can "Restore" them.

Since Dell creates a specific install disk it will not install correctly on a Gateway, the license key on the Gateway will not work. You need to contact Gateway and see if they will provide a replacement disk.
