hi,

i read this problem in the windows ME section. i have two virus problems on my computer. the two virus names are this: 1) Download.Dyfica.H 2)Java/ByteVerify or Trojan.ByteVerify. now, i think these two are apparently two new virused because neither NORTON nor AVG antivirus can repair and/or find it. Norton can't even find a virus. i really need some help. i have tried TAUSCAN and currently trying SPYBOT. TAUSCAN has been unsuccessful in finding it. i have the latest virus definitions and i also have AD-AWARE FREE EDITION to help. but apparently none of these are helping. anyway, could you guys please help. you can email me at rnb237@hotmail.com or rnb237@yahoo.com. thanks.

ryan

Try this one .

Bazooka
http://www.winsite.com/bin/Info?17000000037943
http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner/index.html
Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner detects a multitude of spyware, adware, trojan, keylogger and trackware components; sources of irritation that antivirus software does not deal with. The scanning process will only take a fraction of a second and tell you how to uninstall the invasive spyware or put you in contact with the spyware developer for the most up-to-date and safe uninstall instructions.

Spyware and adware is often bundled with software such as Kazaa, Morpheus, Grokster, Imesh, Xolox, Gnutella and a myriad of other programs, and in many cases installed without your knowledge. Some send information about your surfing habits to ad companies, which target you with popup ads that fit your preferences.

Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner search for Gator, GAIN, Bargain Buddy, CommonName, FlashTrack, IPInsight, n-CASE, NetRatings, NewDotNet, SaveNow, Wurldmedia, etc. The complete list is available here. To stay up-to-date with the latest spyware and adware software Bazooka downloads the threat definitions from the web.

Bazooka is freeware and Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP compatible.

Click on the files found & you will be taken to a site that will show you how to remove , either with a program or manually .

It reports on all drives & partitions , so remember to check all these , when doing manual remove .

Make sure you Update regulary .

hey JOHN W. i tried bazooka, it doens't help. this is really messed up. i think i figured this out. the virus only activates once i open up a certain page, but i'm not sure. is there any other help please? can someone tell me how to remove this trojan or whatever. AVG ANTIVIRUS FREE EDITION is detecting it, but it cannot repair it. and now, this trojan has allowed another virus to come into my comp, probably allowing a backdoor. i need to repair this fast. can SOMEONE help?

A number of good solid programs like Nortons and AVG are being disabled by current variants of spyware/adware & malware. Almost always, the infection can be removed, and the damage repaired.

Could we get you to repost in the 'Security and Virus' forum AFTER you have done the following. Take your time, more damage is done by error, than by the malware. And don't worry if you get no results from one section……keep going!
Each section can unearth different malware disabling programs and masking the real problems.

First, patch your security to stop re-infection.
This is a growing family of trojans that exploits the ByteCodeVerifier vulnerability in the Microsoft Virtual Machine to execute unauthorized code on an affected machine.
We strongly recommend you install the patch, available from this MS security bulletin.

[ If you have Windows XP with Service Pack 1a, your system has no MS Java VM. ] Information on removing the MS Java VM completely and replacing it with the newer, safer Sun Java VM can be found here.

Next,
– please download and run Spybot Search & Destroy;
http://www.safer-networking.org
Short tutorial and download link here:
http://tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/
*check for updates*; and then scan,
and fix all RED items that Spybot finds.
Reboot when done.

Then,
CWS Cool Web Search Removal Process

Download and run a new update of cwshredder.zip Click “Next”
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip
(obtain a new version for each run; there is a recent update)

The full story on CWS:
New address: http://www.merijn.org/cwschronicles.html
Make sure that you have the latest version of CWShredder, and that you click “Next”
and don't just scan.

Reboot,
Then download/update 'Hijack This!' 1.97.0.7 new version http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip
Unzip/extract all…
Double click on hijackthis.exe..and complete the install.

Close All browser windows and
Run HijackThis,
Press Scan, and wait,
Save the log, (the ‘scan’ button changes to ‘save log’)
Edit>select All > copy and paste its contents here.
Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, so don't fix anything yet.

Post the full log including header info in the 'Security and Virus' forum. It will be reviewed by someone there. After it has been checked and cleaned, you will get the all clear signal. It is a fair bit of work – proceed carefully and take notes.
