Windows HELP says ---

Changes to screen resolution affect all users that log on to the computer.

As does this Microsoft article that stated ...

The screen resolution is a system-wide setting and is not related to individual user profiles.

BUT There is a way around it. Go to MVP Doug Knox's site HERE to download the freeware called XP User Display Settings. Quoted:

This small utility will allow all users on your system to have their own screen resolution, and have this setting retained at each logon.

Hope this helps.

IMO I believe Chuck's suggestion is the best and the only tradeoff you need to accept in situations like this.

what's wrong with you people? the best suggestion? ha! I have (and others certainly do) a particular arrangement of my icons and want to keep it, I found a tiny app that makes all arrangements auto: WinTidy, is freeware and here's the link:

Hope this REALLY can help some others.
Thanks.

what's wrong with you people?

Is this what you give us for trying to be helpful and the time it took us to figure out what we thought was the best? Is that how you take advantage of the volunteers on this board and their eagerness to help? Anyway thanks for this lousy compliment.

Updated: So you think you found the perfect solution? I won't recommend WinTidy for two reasons:

1. It's not intended for use on a multiuser machine per this article. To wit: It is a shame that the designer (author) ignored multiple users in a way that stops this from working properly.

2. It's not intended for use on XP SP2, per THIS PC Magazine article, circ. 2001, revised 2002.

Once again, good day.
