Not really a problem but it bugs me, and I can’t figure out how to change them permanently.
First is the favorites drop down menu in IE. When I open a favorite category such as “news” the sub menu opens. After I check out CNN, CBS, MSNBC etc. if I decide to go to my favorite category of “Computer News”, what happens is when I click on it the sub-menu drops down, but the “News” menu remains open (dropped down also). I want to fix it so that when I open a new favorite category the old drop down menu closes as the new one opens.
Second is when I click “Start” - “Programs” the menu that opens only has a few of the last programs I used listed. I have to click on the double arrow at the bottom to see the rest of the programs. I want all the programs to appear.
Not big problems I know, but I liked the way it worked in Win3.1/95/95SE/98/ME/NT/2000.

Thanks for the suggestion "Old Salt" but it don't solve the problems, I have tried it over and over.

I've switched to IE7 on my XP box, so I can't help with problem 1.
Problem 2 is the (IMO) dreaded "Personalized Menus" feature. MS Office has this too. I'm assuming that you have switched your start menu to the "Classic Start Menu" setting in the Start Menu properties. Go back to the Start Menu properties (right-click a blank space of the taskbar & choose properties) & click on the Customize button to the right of the Classic Start Menu choice on the Start Menu tab. At the bottom of the "Advanced Start menu options" list is the "Use Personalized Menus" option. Uncheck that box & click OK (& OK again at the main properties page).
Grace and peace,
Steve

Thanks Phostenix, That worked for problem 2. Meanwhile
I just found the solution for problem 1. It is in IE, click on Tools, click on Internet Options, click Advanced, and check the box for "Close unused folders in History and Favorites".
