At the moment, I have a wireless router setup with a cable modem at my house. One of the computers connected to my LAN is a server running Gentoo, and I ALWAYS get connection time-outs. I figure it's because of my LinkSys wireless router, so I was thinking of getting a nice, cheap wired router (one by netgear that my friend recommended) and hooking my server up to that. So I was thinking I would connect the cable modem, server, and Linksys wireless router to the wired router and things would be peachy.

Am I right in this thinking? It is possible to do the scenario I've described? Is it a possible solution to the problem I am having with my server timing out?

Any help is appreciated.

if the router can be set to AP mode you'll be fine. otherwise get a wireless access point and hook it to your existing router.
