did you try to bridge the connections for the two cards?

If I understand it correctly you are connecting one pc to another pc directly. you will need to go and get a crossover cable. for that connection

my suggestion go out and buy a switch, this way you will plug both computers into the switch and the cable into the switch.

Just want to modify. Not just a switch but a router/switch or a router and a switch.

hi again,
im wondering what is a crossover cable? im using the cable which is designed for connecting a cable modem to network card. I guess it's ok with the cable coz i couldn't find any other cable recommended by the XP website. would you write me the difference between the crossover cable or the cable which is used for cablemodem?

thanks,

go to your local computer store and ask for a crossover cable

there are two wires that are reversed on a crossover cable that allows two computers to talk on the line.

reguler cable the wires are the same on each end of the cable.

Crossover cable two wires are switched for one end to the other.

once you get a crossover cable you;ll be able to get the two computers.

And for "triet"

No need to get a router...
I have three computers on a Dlink DSS 5+ switch and they are all networked and running to the internet.
