You shouldn't need any special software. The driver should be sufficient. Are you sure you downloaded the driver for XP and not Vista? What happens when you connect the laptop to the TV? Might this help? http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...

I think windows Movie Maker should let you watch and record TV.
If you have the right version of Nero, it is also capable of inputting TV data.

A product I used had the software on the usb device. Most of them seem to require a software package. Never tried movie maker.

Might have to use the restore disks.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Windows Movie Maker *may* be able to access the tuner card and change the channels as this page suggests: http://webhostingreality.blogspot.c...

But, it doesn't seem to recognize my Hauppage card. I don't know about Nero. I can use my TV Tuner card as an input device for those applications, but there needs to be something to tune the card to the correct input.

Here are a list of apps that you can look into: http://www.tv-cards.com/allapps.php

I installed an ATI TV Wonder Elite PCI TV Tuner card ,it came with a software CD ! However most reviews I read on the ATI TV Wonder Elite said the hardware was top of the line ,howeve the software was very buggy . I decifded not to use the ATI software and instead configured the card to run thru my O/S WinXP MCE 2005. It works perfectly ,only thing sadly I cannot use the very nice remote control that came with the TV Tuner card. If you have WinXP however you do not have the Media Center Addition, perhaps you can check into adding the Media Center to your O/S ?
Good Luck ,Nick
