Subject: Turning off Windows Security CenterOS: XP Pro SP2CPU/Ram: 1024 MB DDR |
Comment: Hey, Does anyone know of a trick to turn off Windows Security Center from starting up in SP2 every time? I know that I don't have Windows Update on but I am getting annoyed that it continues to come up every start time telling me so... A registery key maybe? BTW: I already have changed the settings in the way Security Center alerts me, however it always reverts back to saying the Firewall is offline... Thanx

Reply: (edit)I do not think Microsoft will have a hotfix for this. It's going to be in your face all the time. This is so that you cannot complain about not being informed about getting the updates & patches. The only way is to hide it... in Start / Settings / Taskbar & Start Menu put a tick in "Hide inactive icons" then click on customize / click on Windows Security Alerts and from the box select always hide. Reply: (edit)Just don't let it monitor anything i.e. antivirus, firewall and windows update. if u already have an antivirus software and firewall running, then u have nothing to worry about. just set them to "do not monitor" and leave windows update as it is as on. and the security centre won't pop up anymore.

Reply: (edit)It isn't that simple. After every reboot it just continues to come back up... I am going to look into the services and see if I can disable it...
