I am wondering how to make sure on windows XP that I do not have file sharing enabled and that I do not have remote access enabled.

Please let me know where to find these settings.

Thanks.

START>MY COMPUTER Rightclick the C drive icon and select the Sharing and Security tab

Next in the START menu, rightclick the MY COMPUTER tab, select properties>remote

Set them how you want.

thanks, but that does not help one bit. All I have under the sharing tab is a sentence that says, "If you understand the risk but still want to share the root of the drive, click here". And, when I click on that sentence, it does not show me any file sharing settings. Maybe I am missing something!!!

When you look in My Computer, is there a sharing hand under the drive icon? If not then sharing is not enabled and you have nothing to fear.
