I know how to do the "shutdown -?" but I want to create an icon for start > "Turn Off Computer". Instead of directly shutting down ([or restart, log-of, etc], I want it to promt me.

Right click anywhere on the Desktop, then move your mouse pointer to New, then click on shortcut, type the words shutdown -s -t 0, then next, then type again Shutdown then OK or next and your done. You can drag and drop the icon to your Quick Launch bar and change the icon to your liking. Change the -s to -r for Reboot or Restart.

Follow up: be sure you put a space between the -s, -t and the zero. You can also change the icon to the Shutdown icon by going to moricons.dll file in the windows folder under System32. Good Luck

May I ask why? When you can hit the start menu -> Turn Off Computer
And do the same thing?
What you could do, is in power options, configure your power button (or sleep button) to, when pressed, give you the choices. I have this, but rarely use it. I tend to just hit Start -> Turn Off Computer -> Turn Off. And its all gone in a few seconds. (Cheer)
There is one subtle yet vital difference between opinion and fact; and the bigger man is he who can whole-heartedly admit this.
