Subject: Trying to recover a laptop HD...
OS: WinXP
CPU/Ram: Atlon
Model/Manufacturer: Compaq
Comment:

I tried booting up to the Laptop HD with my Live Foundstone CD but it did not recognize it. Then I tried hooking it up to my PC with a Laptop to IDE HD adapter and trying to recover it with GetDataBack soft ware since that worked before on my 120G maxtor HD. No luck this time, still didnt recognize the drive. Any suggestions?

TIA
-Rob

Get a linux live cd such as knoppix or dsl or puppy. Make a live barts or ubcd4win cd.
Get ntfs for dos. Ultimate boot cd too.

Can you see the hard drive in BIOS?
If not, the data recovery software cannot help you, you must send it to data recovery company.

"Can you see the hard drive in BIOS?"

No. My next step will be to try to find the same HD somewhere and swap the drive electronics board. I'll let yall know how that goes.
