Hi,
I'm trying to install a new hardisk and all was well with the WIndows XP setup until my little daughter turned my PC off during the formatting stage. I now can't re-formatt it - it now seems unusable - please help. Thank you

i've never seen it not be able to reformat. but you could try to fdisk (or delete all partitions and recreate them at the first stage of winxp setup). that should do it. if not, then the hd is busted, take it back if it's new.

Dear friend, could you please give me some more detail nevertheless if you can access your drive by making it a slave then use DISK MANAGEMENT in computer management to delete the partition(if any) formed on the new HDD and then proceed again to format the disk this can also be done by booting from XP cd and deleting the partition if any on the new disk

Boot from your XP System disk, choose fresh (new) install, go into the option "I want to choose my own partition", delete the partition that is on the hardddrive now, then immediately reinstall a new partition, and format it.
