I had a problem with my comp and the only way to resolve it is to fresh install XP.
so what I did is I put the hard drive into my old comp so I can upload my personal files to the internet of put them on floppies, but I cannot get my old comp to read the hard drive...? I have looked for drives and have not found any??
can anybody help me??
anybody?

What OS is installed on your old computer ?
You must at least have WinNT based OS installed on your old computer to gain access to your hard disk if this one is NTFS file system.
If the above rule is matched with your configuration, just check with your computer BIOS if your had drive is properbly detected if not check your cabling. In another case refer to your hard disk and your old mother board manual to figure out your issue.

The hard drive that I am trying to install is using the ntfs file sysm and the computer that I am tryi to install it on (the one am I using now) is running windows 95
should I put this in the win95 forum?

win95 cannot read anything in the ntfs format (either hard drives or floppies, zip disks, etc). It's like trying to make someone read something in a foreign language...
You need to either upgrade your old computer, or connect your hard drive to another computer with win2k or winxp (ie: either teach the person the foreign language, or give it to someone else that knows it)
what was wrong with your computer in the first place?

Thanks,
but my comp does not recognize that there is another hard drive, it does not say anything in Bios and there is not an extra hard drive in "My Computer." Is that because of the NTFS?

ok, I switched the jumper cable and now a D:\ drive icon appears but whenever I try to access it says cannot load NT system files
