What kind of wireless adapter is it? Is it a plug-in PCI unit or integrated in the motherboard or is it a USB device?
Do you have the driver on CD ?
Is this a laptop or desktop? Did it originally come with XP or has that operating system been installed aftermarket?
We cannot give more definite advice without knowing exactly what hardware you are dealing with.
