Trying to format computer, disc not found

Specs: Windows XP, 1 GB
Im trying to format my computer, but when i put my OS disc in the computer and ask it to boot from it, it says "No Operating Sytstem". It would be nice if someone could help me with this.

... tap the relevant <key> @ bootup to [enter] your bios (<<click) then alter the boot order sequence to cd/dvd drive as first option.

In addition to the above, if you have a SATA hard drive and intend to install WinXP, be aware that WinXP doesn't support SATA hard drives natively. You need to supply SATA drivers.

So, if you have a SATA hard drive you will need to slipstream the SATA drivers into your WinXP files and then make a new CDR. Use nliteos to perform that operation. Get nliteos at the link below. Get the SATA drivers from the laptop manufacturer.

Also be aware that if you are downgrading from Vista or Windows 7 you may not find drivers for your hardware. Check BEFORE proceeding.
