Hello
I have a problem with windows xp and motorola sm56k internal modem . I can't find
a suitable driver.

There won't be any drivers available specifically for XP yet, but since it's supposed to be compatible with the other Windows versions, logically something should work. When W2K was released last year many users overlooked that it was NT5 and forgot to try NT drivers.
As part of a process of elimination, have you tried any NT drivers or e-mailed Motorola to ask them for advice?
I usually findhttp://www.driverguide.com
to be an excellent resource
ID: drivers
P/W: all

I have WindowsXP and Motorola SM56 and the W2K driver doesn't support wake-up from hybernation... You need to completely reboot the computer :(
If anyone have a solution, pls mail me!!!

I have windows Xp and a motorola sm56k pci internal modem. Windows xp only installs modems to com ports 1 and 2. my modem is on com port 4. Does the windows 2000 driver correct this problem? if so, where can i get it?
Please email me at bobman999@cs.com if you know because I will not be returning to this message board.

I have the same problem but I downloaded the drivers and on install winxp couldn't find tons of files that had weird endings. I'll write them down again and ask you guys about it. But has anyone had anyluck with this modem and winxp?

Here Motorola Modem and Windows XP Fix:-
1.First uninstall old Motorola SM56 Driver.
2.Goto http://e-www.motorola.com/products/softmodem/support/software.html
and download the latest Windows2000 drivers
3.Execute files that you just download and extract to somewhere such as C:\TEMP4.Right click on My Computer+Properties+Hardware+Device Manager and then update your modem driver
with new modem driver.Hope you know how to do.5.When everything go well and now you able to make new connection.
6.Right click on that new dialup connection that you just made and then click Properties on General Tab
Click Configure...
7.On Hardware features uncheck Enable modem compression. Now your modem should work.8.Remember don't select "Enable modem compression" and everything should go well. Good Luck.

Disgard my posting I found out that not "Enable Modem compression" problem
the problem is you have to select country to USA just double click on modem icon on tasktray and set your country to USA
