Hi folks -

I have two areas of troubles.

Start Up
Immediately upon my pressing the on button i get a black dos screen with the following message:

BOOT FAILURE, INSERT DISK AND PRESS ENTER.

I've been getting this for years and get around it by hitting cctrl+alt+delete and things then proceed. I'd like to get this to stop happening though.

Found New Hardware Troubles
Shortly after my desktop appears I receive the following little cloud/box at the lower right of my screen:

Found new hardware USB network interface

Then it disappears for about five seconds and then comes back. The thing is that I only have the internet box hooked into a USB port on the back. It wont "recognize it", yet I am able to access the web.

Then the same message appears again and then disappears again.

Next the Welcome to the Found new Hardware Program wizard opens up, I simply cancel that out (but I'd like for it to stop!)

Lastly another cloud/box appears in the lower right saying:

Found new hardware a problem has occurred in the installation and that it may not work properly.

I've checked the ports and it appears that system recognizes an ether net card as working, but I'm not really sure what I should be looking for.

In closing - I'd like to be able to boot up without the system disk request and get rid of all these found new hardware/trouble with new hardware prompts.

Thanks in advance for any assistance

Boot issue:

Improper boot device selected, restart pc and enter setup by pressing key on screen to enter bios setup. Look for boot and then boot priority. Change selection to boot your hard drive first. Save changes and reboot pc.

Hardware found issue:

Disconnect dsl modem usb cable.Insert dsl modem cd and install the driver. Follow on-screen prompts. Reconnect dsl modem cable.

This is just what I need. Although, I'm having trouble getting into my setup. When I press the function key at the boot up I get a screen, but no F2 SET UP option or anything of the sort. Could you "spoon" feed me the procedure to get into the set up from my boot?
I really appreciate it.
Thanks,

Still learning, but aren't we all!

Turn on the pc, when the display first appears on the screen press the F1 key repeatedly. This should get you to the bios setup. You will then see the bios setup screen and the file menu where you can navigate to the boot menu. From there, look for the boot device priority selection and if it isn't set to boot the hard drive first, change it to the hard drive. After making changes, press F10 to save changes and exit.
