Hi Guys,

Just got a MEGA 865 Barebones system ( Msi Entertainment and Gaming Appliance ) I have added a 120gb Hard Disk , x16 DVD Writer , 2.8ghz P4 and 2gb Ram.
When i go to install the operating system ( XP Home ) i get the stage where i have formatted the hard drive and the setup files have been copied, however on the fisrt reboot , instead of loading to install the o/s it just goes back to the begin where it says inspecting config etc and then to what partition i want xp on , this is all the stuff i done before , i need to get to the stage where it installs and i have enter my cd key etc..
Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in Advance
GR

I'm presuming that you have your bios to boot from CDROM first? If you do, should not have a problem loading your OS

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

You only hit the Boot From CD key once. If you hit it the second time it comes up, you'll start from the beginning again. Only hit it the first time. Good Luck !!!

I think, on the first reboot, as it starts to reboot, get back into bios and change to boot from hard disk drive. I just went through that not to long ago and I'm pretty sure thats what worked for me.

Hi

just to add an interesting read here:

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/mobile/display/msi-mega-865.html

note the bit about using msi optical rw , & does the hdd have to be fat32?

any reason why?

ps check your hdd is recognised in the bios and the jumpers are set correctly.
