I am having an issue after upgrading from XP Home to XP Professional. After I upgraded, I noticed that the shortcut to the connectoid I created to my ISP wasn't working. I checked the Network Connections folder and it was no longer there. When I try to create a new connectoid, I go through the wizard, but when I gets to the part about choosing my modem, it only gives me an option for an Ethernet modem. The other options are greyed out. I have a 56K dial up modem and this was not problem in XP Home. Any suggestions?

Have a look in Device Manager and see if it's listed there - u might find u have a driver I/O conflict.
If so, un-install the modem and re-boot the PC - XP will 'find new hardware' and set it up correctly.

Thanks for the reply. It is listed in the Device Manager as U.S. Robotics 56k etc... I will try un-installing and rebooting. Thanks!

I tried that last night, no luck. After uninstalling, i restarted, it recognized the modem. But when creating a manual DUN connection, it only allows the selection of an ethernet connection / cable modem. This wasn't a problem in windows xp home, and it wasn't a problem the first time I upgraded from Home to XP. I noticed the problems I had started after I reformated my hard drive (I fell victim to the Blaster Worm).
