I have a virus that I noticed when I sign on to AIM that in my profile it keeps on changing to a download site to where I suppose the virus is, every time I delete it and sign off, it will appear the next time I sign on. I used AVG and System Suite but it can't find any virus's.....so I don't know what to do now.

I highly recommend you downloading Ad-Aware (http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/), as it almost always finds these types of viruses and adware. If it is the "I can't believe I found (screenname)'s picture!" virus, then adware will fix it as it did for me. Hope that helps.

Here are some links, a la Brett's rec.

Delete anything that looks suspicious. Some advise deleting everything because it's all reversible. Also get Spyblaster which keeps a list of bad stuff on your computer and blocks them from being installed (theoretically). Be sure your independent (not MS’s) firewall is enabled.

Spybot

AdAware

norton has quarantined Astart.exe file, because of this trojan...and says it can not repair the file, and that my only option is to delete it without backup.
is this file essential in operating my computer?
What is the astart.exe file?
is that merely the name of the trojan?
