Subject: Trojan Virus Problem - NEED HELPOS: XPCPU/Ram: 2100/1024 |
Comment: Hey all I've had a really big problem with these trojan viruses. I have tried AVG, Spybot, A-Squared, Trend Micro online scan, but nothing can seem to get rid of them. I have tried scanning in safe mode and tried that way but to not avail. I have ports blocked and a firewall on but the same problems continue. The name of the viruses are melower.exe and goaway.exe both trojan horse generics, and mmxeyn007.exe which is a trojan horse downloader generic. Im not sure what else to do, help needed urgently. Thanks

Reply: (edit)The firewall will not helping you againsst viruses and spyware, it blocks attacks. The next step is format and install XP again I'm afraid. Backup your data and after clean install is done put AV software and spyware protection tool and get your files back. Have in mind that they can be infected.

Reply: (edit)You did not mention whether you had turned off system restore. Virus's like to hide there as they are protected files which do not get scanned. Possibly that is why you cannot get rid of the infection. Turn off system restore, reboot, scan. Possibly if Safe mode if you prefer. Don't forget to turn system restore back on when you are finished scanning.
