I have this virus on my computer and it's driving me mad because no forum, including this one, seems to have any info on it. AVG identified it during my last scan, but it says it is not authorised to either move it or delete it. It's a nasty little B... as it changes my internet page to Yahoo, then tries to download a porn site called Hardcore. It also disconnects my broadband connection and asks if I want to reconnect through a provider called PRI at £1.50 per minute! How do I get rid of it? Please help.

try going to this place.. it is an online trojan scanner.. is the name of the trojan actually called downloader agent??

i would not recommend a reformat.. that should be the absolute last resort and it is not practical to reformat every time you get a virus.. i know it is a pain.. but if AVG identifies the name of the virus.. did you try googling for that? Symantec usually has instructions on how to remove them.. i just tried googling for "downloader agent" and came up with a ton of hits on how to deal with it..

hey .. again. i am assuming your trojan is called the downloader agent.. i found this on another website.. maybe this will help you out as well.

I fixed the problem! I found the answer at the following usenet discussion: http://groups.google.co.uk/groups?q=gnkdr095uteigv7b5968q7u553adk9nvej%404ax.com&hl=en&lr=&selm=OoBtd.64193%24K7.1486%40news-server.bigpond.net.au&rnum=1

I downloaded the 2 softwares suggested by someone:

http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/autoruns.shtml

I ran the procexp program and this enabled me to disable the 'exe' trojan program. I was then able to delete it using explorer.

Oh, btw. I didn't mention in my initial post that I had discovered the trojan using AVG antivirus software. This was because I'd noticed that some of the other posts which have mentioned AVG (or anti-virus software other than bullguard) did not receive many replies (lack of response to my post also seemed to be following this pattern). Is this the general attitude around here? Or am I getting the wrong end of the stick?
