Personally I wouldn't touch Nortons with a 10' barge pole. Have seen too many problems caused by that program over the years.
Have no opinion on TrendMicro other than their online scan. Which I think is good.

From my personal experience, both are good. I have not had any problems with either. Norton is getting some bad press by some users but I have not really noticed a drop in performance while using NAV or Pc-cillin for that matter. I think it is a personal choice you have to make. Both performed well on my (slow) computer (850 mhz). Only my personal opinion. You can always download a trial version of each and see which one you prefer.

I've used Norton for years but last fall my purchase of NAV2004 wouldn't roll my subscription date forward a year so it was worthless. Symantec tech support was totally unhelpful and circular.
I decided that I'd vote with my checkbook. After reading several reviews, I purchased Trend Micro PC-cillin and have now installed it on 6 computers. It seems as effective as Norton and seems to use fewer resources.

I've used Norton since they came out.... dating myself here...
At work we use McAfee. The new upgrad to McAfee is great.. it actually scans for spyware and malware also. The McAfee internet security suite 2005 (ver 7) is a great program. 200% better than previous McAfee programs.

Either one will be fine. I have been a nw admin for over 10 years and used Symantec Client Security (Norton Corp) up until lat year when we had to switch to a new vendor. We evaluated a few including McAfee EPO which absolutely SUCKS btw. We ended up going with Trend and have had no issues at all. All of the new AV programs scan for malware and spybots in addition to virii so they all have pretty much the same features. We didnt go awa rom norton because it was not doin the job, we had to switch because of a conflict with out disaster recovery remote nw site. If it we not for that, we would still use it but the conflict could have happened to any of them. I have used both Corp version and home versions of each and you will not go wrong with either one, base it on price.
