This may be a little late. I had the same issue with the deepfreeze icon not appearing. Hot Keys did not work. The DFSEV5 service has been disabled. Login as admin or administrator and to to services. Enable it and logoff and login with admin. Do not restart. The icon now appears on the toolbar and you may now thaw the computer without a complete format. Now restart.
