Hi,
I have had this Hp system less than 2 weeks, and so far I have done a factory reset 3 times. Vista had a nice environment, I loved it, but it sucks, so I want it to now become Xp.
So before I go buy a 5th Xp cd, I'd like to know if I can make the notebook work with it.
The vista was home premium, and it had media center on it, which was fantastic, so do I have to buy the Xp media center too, and will it work like it does in vista?
The notebook has buttons all over it, for screen rotation and dvd and volumes and stuff. Will Xp use them too?
Basically I'm after the features of my notebook, with the much better Xp Os.

From HP:
If your operating system is not listed, HP does not currently have software or driver downloads available for your product for that operating system, or they are not available in the language you have chosen. To look for a driver in another language, change the software/driver language by clicking the "Change your software/driver language:" link on this page to see what drivers are available for your operating system.

You need to go to:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...

Input your exact model # and see if that computer supports the XP operating system...This is important as the software that is required for the hardware to operate as before will not be able to function without the proper drivers...

Many new Laptops use SATA drives and XP by and large does not natively support the SATA controller, you can create a custom XP CD with nLite.

looking quite good to support using xp.
Thank you lurkswithin for that link. the drive has a partition set, so if xp does have trouble, at least i can resort back to using vista if i really really really have to lol.
Many thanks.

"looking quite good to support using xp".

Verify ALL hardware drivers are available. Wireless LAN and HD sound may prove difficult.

Well it seems sound and some other features will not be compatable. That is a dissapointment. even their service pack 1 doesn't work right, it makes the taskbar invisible, but anyway, that's a whole different forum.
Thanks for the help people, much appreciated.
