Hello all,

I'm trying to upgrade my Compaq Armada 110 from the faithful Windows 98 to the handy XP. I'm gonna give up on trying to upgrade the OS itself and do a clean install.

The thing is, there are programs on it that were pre-installed when I got it, and are irreplaceable (without spending more money, that is). One of which is my copy of Microsoft Publisher. I want to preserve these programs because they are invaluable, so I was wondering if there was someway to transfer a program across OSes without reinstalling it from a disk (which I don't have).

If I can't transfer the programs, I'm gonna have to give up upgrading entirely - it's that important. Ideas?

There will be different registry setting in Windows XP than there is in Windows 98 so without the installation disk to create the correct registry setting it is not going to work.
