How do I transfer files from old HP computer to new HP computer. Pictures, etc? I was told to get a transfer cable and hook up to both pc's - can you give me details - step by step on how to do this?

burn them to a disc!! or dvd! no joking create a small LAN with a network card in each machine and map the root of the drive and share what ever files you choose.

You can also use teh "File and Settings Transfer wizard" It's a hand tool.

Setting up both computers on a lan is your best option to transfer the settings.

Good morning granny. Not sure if this is the most practical way, but it worked like a charm for me. I recently transferred all my pics over to my new computer with a USB memory key; quite a handy little device for transferring data; works great.

unhook your old hard drive and plug it into your new computer as a slave ... then just drag the files over to your new drive. by far the easiest way.
