Transfer info from desktop to laptop

How do I transfer info from my desktop to my laptop without losing infor from the desktop?

Your answer depends on the equipment.
Simplest answer is to use a thumbdrive. Copy whatever files/data from one machine onto a USB stick. Take it out (safely). Plug it into the other machine and copy to that machine.
Second option is to create a network between the two machines. Wired or wireless depending on the equipment.
Of course if the machines are not physically nearby you can always upload data to an online storage and download it to the other machine.
You can burn data to a CD from one machine to copy it to another.
You can take the drive out of the laptop and use an adaptor to connect it to the desktop and then transfer files from one drive to another.
If the data is small enough and your email accounts large enough you can email the data from one machine to the other.
