Is there a good program that will transfer files between hard drive devices, or different devices? Of course Windows can do it but soemtimes with large files it can be faulty. Thanks

I have never had a problem transferring large files with Windows Explorer. The chances are that a third party application is going to be using the same Dynamic Link Libraries (DLL) as Windows Explorer.

If you are having problems transferring large files it is probably something other than the software you are using.

That is for you to find out. Repeat the copy operation while doing nothing else and see if the problem still persists.

It shouldn't be. In all my years the only issues I have ever had with copying files with windows Explorer is witht he process hanging if I am doing another intensive task at the same time.

unless the copy process and the other activities you are performing are utilizing entirely different drives (not partitions) this should be expected no matter what application you are using. Depending on what your needs are you could consider scheduling these transfers for a time when you are not on the computer.

Why of course activity will effect the copy process. Especially if that activity does disk access. Even more so if you are using the boot partition [where the OS resides] for source or distination. That causes disk io contention between the copy process and OS disk access [pagefile/system files].

You don't mention what your issue/problem is with large file xfers. Understand if fat32 your max file size is 4gig. If you have transfer issues this could indicate issues with the drive [fragmentation?]or memory. There are free downloadable diagnostics for both.

Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.
