in the c: drive, under documents and settings i have a file named .plugin140_03.trace it says its a TRACE file, this sounds fishy, but i cant delete it, it says its in use by another person or program. ive shut down every program possible and it still wont delete. there is also a folder named .jpi_cache that i cant delete, i get the same msg. what are these and what do i do???

Hi chief_017,

They're JAVA dump logs of some sort. I don't know more than that about 'em, though.

The .jpi_cache is the java cache folder...I believe it is cached applets stored there when browsing the net so the site doesn't need to download the applets again next time you go to a site that uses java...wondering why you would want to delete that folder....if because you have a virus detected in there you can empty the cache folder.
Go to control panel
Double click the java plug-in icon in there
Click the cache tab
Click the clear button.

As far as the trace file...I don't know...I have it too and am clean as a whistle.
