Example: Browser open (IE 6.), open computing.net see a post I want to look over. Click on It, Connection dropped. Browser open, click on hotmail link to open, connection dropped. And on and on. Now this doesn't happen all the time but several times a day. Last month I called my server on this matter. I had been dropped 250 times in a 10 hr. peroid. They came out and somehow decided It must be my modem. Replaced It, then went to their office and something about changing the port I was on. Sorry I didn't understand that part. Things seem to work good for awhile, now Its started again. Why I'm confused about. Now the last time tech. support did not tell me they had been updating, but when they came out the guy did. Now Is It possible this Is what Is causing my being dropped so much or my machine? Have a DSL connection. When this happens I'll just stop what I'm doing and after a moment or two lights will light up on modem and I'm going again. Does anyone have a clue as to what Is going on. Thank you all for your help. Type this out clicked post message, connection dropped.

When this happens, it's your modem automatically re connecting after a failure.
It sounds to me that your ISP has more business then it can handle given its equipment.

I can be loading a web site and notice It Is taking quite a while, look at modem see It Is not connected. At times I'll click stop tab for It to quit loading, then when modem Is ready start over. But at times I'll let It ride Its course. But yes It will reconnect me every time. Somehow I feel like It Is my ISP, but not knowing alot about computers wanted to see what other thought before I ____ to much. Thank you all I learn alot from thing I read on here.

I have SBC DSL and had this problem last winter & traced it down to a loose wire in the phone box outside.
Seems that the heat and cold within the box coupled with the vibration of the traffic would make or break the connection.
Couldn't hurt to check, Good Luck.

If you wake up to see the day - it can't be that bad.
