Toshiba Satellite 1905-s277 notebook
July 5, 2010 at 20:22:42
Specs: Windows XP
The battery died on my laptop and power down. I pluged in to outlet but it will not boot up. The lights on the front boots. The HD light flashes but will not spin up. The screen flickers but stays blank. The CD works and still plays music CD. I have tried taking the battery out, booting holding the f5 / f8 keys, no success. Any ideas as to what to try??

Your computer could be stuck in a power save mode, such as
hibernation. Or it could be something worse, like a bad power
supply or motherboard. Here's the first thing to try:

1. Remove the battery
2. Unplug the computer
3. Wait a few minutes
4. While everything is disconnected, press the power button a
few times (nothing will happen of course)
5. Put everything back together and try to start up again.

If that doesn't work, you'll want to go into a computer shop.
