when i insert a cd in the drive the light flashes for a few seconds then lights up and stays on.i have it on the secondary ide channel set as master with a hp cd writer plus 8250i set as slave (which works fine).The device manager properties tab says its working and all the drivers ar signed but it tells me that it cant read the cd in the tray (i have tried cdr's,program cd's,dvd's,audio cd's)when i go into administrative tools, event viewer, system log , it reports :Event Type: Error

have you tried making it the slave
and the cdrw the master.
thats the normal sequence unless
the manufacturer states different.

Have you tried the drive in another system?

Sounds like your drive is dead.

Hi.
Just to let you know that I have the same dvd and upto now have had no probs. Have you tried updating your dvd rom bios, if you do, be careful as there are simular bioses on the toshiba site, get wrong one and your dvd will be useless all together.
