My laptop will not power on. The power light will come on when pluged in or when on battery. But when you push the power on button the light for the CDrom will flash and then the power then go out and the main power light will turn amber and then keep on flashing .. It is not a steady flash it seams to be in a sequens code. You may also have a cheap plastic switch on the fritz (maybe also requiring a tech?). How do you feel about DIY repairs? I've run into these types of problems before back when I was still fixing laptops (I had Toshiba certification) and it was usually either the power suppy or the motherboard. In almost all cases, it requires changing the motherboard as most laptops have the PSU wired onto the mobo (there is the odd model with a separate PSU). Find a local toshiba authorized repair center and take it in to have it checked out. Generally speaking, it shouldn't take any more than 30 minutes to diagnose the problem.....60 min's at the most. Once done, they can give you a quote on the price of the part and labour costs to fix.
