Hi :)
You can set the Internet settings on your browser to show how much space you want to save..

Tools --> Internet Options -->Settings

You can then use the slide bar to decrease or increase the amount of disk space you allow to be used for temp files..

Once it has used all the space, it overwrites the oldest ones..

Hope this helps :)

Thanks

Arup

Actually what Arup should also have told you is that temporary internet files are quite normal and have nothing to do with Kazaa or anything else. All the sites you vist are stored on your PC so that when next you visit that site access is easier because information about the site is already available to you browser. You can delete them quite easily and safely by opening "Internet Options" on the IE6 toolbar and selecting "Clear History". If you have as many files as you say you can expect the process to last for some 30 seconds or so.

You can delete the temp files by going to tools->internet options->delete files

The temporary files are anything that you've downloaded from the web...from html pages, to drivers, games, music, etc. If you notice, sometimes when you go back to a page and click on a link to re-download a file, your computer just pulls it out of the cache

earlyBird,

Yes I did not mention about normal internet files, because they were questioning why it was so MUCH space, NOT why the files were there..

And 'Clear History' only clears the sites you have been to - NOT the temp internet files !!!!

Just wanted to clarify...

Thanks

Do this and you will not have to worry about temporary internet files again.
Tools/Internet Options/Advanced, now scroll down the list until you get to Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed, Put a check in the box, Now when you close IE it will automatically clean them up for you.

Sorry about that Arup... you are right. When I re-read the post I find I was on the wrong track about the deletion bit
